1. an experience

So. Today i had an amazing experience that i wanted to write about. It has to do with the song “Came to my Rescue” by Hillsong.

It all started a week ago, during band practice. We had a song we didn’t know how to play so we decided to replace it with another song. We went through a few ideas then Came to my Rescue was suggested, and Amy and I got all excited about it. Michael was very skeptical about it because he didn’t have lyrics in front of him, and he wasn’t sure if it was going to pass the criteria of what Pastor Stephen wanted for the songs. But we ended up doing it anyway.

I was very excited about this song and i had decided i wanted to say a quick something about worship before it, having to do with worshipping God with everything in you, standing up on chairs, clapping, putting your arms in the air, singing loudly. Whatever you can do God deserves it.

I come in tuesday morning all hyped up and ready for chapel, Michael comes to me and says: “We’re not doing came to my rescue today, we don’t have time” So i argued that down to getting rid of another song to be able to do it. that finally worked out

We were in the gym practicing and got everything down pact, and pastor stephen walked in wanting to know what songs we were doing. Beyond what i knew Michael had failed to talk to Pastor Stephen about Came to my Rescue so he was saying it was a bad idea such short notice and he didn’t want to do it. Especially because its a new song. Pastor Stephen and I debated about it for a while and he finally decided its okay because it had to do with the salvation message he was preaching. So i was very excited.

As the service went on i was getting nervous and started to pray. I felt God so present, i felt such a joyful presence in the room. It really really made me excited so finally it was over. I went up there and started to talk about worship. when i was finished, we started playing the song. The following lyrics were sung:

Falling on my knees in worship
Giving all I am to seek Your face
Lord all I am is is Yours

    My whole life
    I place in Your hands
    God of mercy
    Humbled I bow down
In your presence at Your throne

    I called You answered
And You came to my rescue and I
I wanna be where You are

I felt God’s presence so strongly, i was very near tears. I was having a hard time even playing the guitar. The bridge of this song was coming up, the most powerful part of this song. We were building up the song to go into it, and i hear this loud obnoxious noise. I had first thought it was my guitar, but then was very confused. It was the fire alarm. Going off right before we sing the part that repeats:

In my life be lifted high
In our world be lifted high
In our love be lifted high

The fire alarm went off and we had to all go outside. Once we came back in the band and i played through the song to worship ourselves, while everyone else had to go back to class.

This honestly excites me a lot. Satan felt extremely threatened by what was happening, so look how much he tried to stop us.

    1. Trying to play in practice, michael was skeptical, finally worked out
    2. That morning, not enough time to play, finally worked out
    3. Pastor Stephen didn’t want it played because too short of notice, finally worked out
    4. Fire Drill.

The consistency in all of this is the song “came to my rescue”. Satan did not want it played at all. I really feel like God’s going to do something big with that song. We are playing it next week. I’m really excited and I’m going to be praying all week for that song.

So guys, that go to tcs, come to Chapel next tuesday ready to shove that song in Satan’s face. Worship like you’ve never worshipped before. God is moving guys, and i’m blown away.
